MY PASSION

I was blessed growing up in a supportive family, where despite life’s challenges, I always found support. This guidance enabled me to follow my passion in becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, in the hopes that I could be there for others facing life’s difficulties. I know that without others support and counseling, I would not be who I am today. The counsel that I received, helped me to overcome many insecurities and fears that I had, cope with depression, and gain confidence in myself to accept who I am. This confidence enabled me to move forward and face the uncertainties of life and pursue my dream of helping others. My goal is to be a helper and support to you, as you learn to overcome the challenges on your path.

BACKGROUND

I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2008 from Southeastern University, and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013 from Wright State University. During my experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have had the privilege of working with all ages, in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings providing individual, couples and family therapy services. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including juvenile detention centers, jails, hospitals, local community outpatient programs, inpatient facilities as well as home settings.
As a therapist, I have provided brief, non-medical counseling services to Military personnel and their families through face-to-face counseling services, briefings, and presentations to the military community. In non-medical counseling, we address issues such as improving relationships at home and work, stress management, adjustment difficulties, parenting, and grief or loss.
As a crisis counselor, I have provided crisis intervention in emergency departments and local mental health centers to provide assessment and advocacy for the best level of care. I also provided trainings for the Community regarding crisis response & interventions.
I have worked extensively with children and families in a school-based counseling program that provided on-site diagnostic assessment to children; provided individual, family, group psychotherapy services, crisis intervention and educational and community resources to schools. I have worked with adolescents involved in the legal system providing diagnostic assessments for mental health and drug/alcohol as well as provided services in local juvenile detention.
During my graduate level internship at Heartland of Kettering, I worked inpatient with those recovering from medical ailments and/or navigating end of life. I provided care to Cancer Patients going through treatment or facing end of life treatment, as well as grief counseling for survivors. I worked directly with medical staff and social workers to ensure the best care possible to meet the needs of those we served.
