INTRODUCTION: MY PASSION

I’ve always been a “helper.” I’ve always had a sense of helping others, and that passion grew throughout my life. Eventually, I found my way to the counseling field and it was such a natural fit. I am passionate about the therapeutic process and believe that therapy can be a reverent experience. When I started my own personal therapy, it felt intimidating and daunting, but those sessions changed my life. I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life and love seeing the progress clients make over time. My ultimate goal is to provide a non-judgmental space for clients to process experiences and seek healing, while learning skills to aid the process.

BACKGROUND

I’ve always had an interest in psychology and spirituality. I received my Bachelors Degree in Religion, where I explored the intersection between religion, spirituality, and psychology. This ultimately led me to the counseling arena and I obtained my Masters in Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and am an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. For most of my career, I have worked with adolescents and young adults in various capacities. I enjoy providing a space for them to freely share and enjoy supporting them and their families. I have 8 years treating Substance Use Disorders in the outpatient and inpatient setting. I am still passionate about assisting clients in their recovery while they navigate challenges.

Prior to joining the Irmo Counseling team, I spent two years focusing specifically on providing trauma processing and crisis-intervention services to survivors of sexual assault.
